Beltway Battles: Round Two

Washington, D.C. (April 4, 2022) – WBA/NABA Gold Jr. Welterweight Champion Greg “Sharp Shooter” Outlaw, Jr. (10-1, 5 KOs) of Glenarden, Md. will headline the return of championship pro boxing to the Nation’s Capital at Beltway Battles: Round Two on Saturday, May 28, at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, DC. Tickets, priced at $51, $78, $132 and $200 plus taxes and applicable fees, are now on sale and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations including Ticketmaster.com and at the Entertainment & Sports Arena Box Office. Event promoters are New Jersey-based Rising Star Promotions led by middleweight contender and World Title challenger Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna, DHH Promotions headed by undefeated DC super middleweight contender Dusty Hernández Harrison and TCMFB Boxing in association with Events DC

Outlaw, a Bowie State University graduate, captured his championship title with an impressive first round TKO victory over previously undefeated Jonathan Montrel on March 26, in Atlantic City, N.J. The Maryland boxer who trains with DreamTeam Boxing in Clinton and competed in the Olympics trials as an amateur will make his District debut against an opponent to be announced. 

The card will also feature the return of super lightweight contender Anthony Peterson (38-1-1, 24 KOs), a District native returning to fight in his hometown for the first time in six years. Anthony is now being trained by his older brother, retired professional DC boxer Lamont Peterson, who held world championship titles in two weight classes during his career.

Beltway Battles: Round Two is the second in a series of professional boxing shows. The Entertainment & Sports Arena saw a crowd of nearly 2,000 fans enjoy the debut at Beltway Battles: Round One on October 29, 2021, at the Entertainment & Sports Arena. 

The rest of the impressive card for May 28 is filled with top prospects from the Mid-Atlantic region:

  • Super Bantamweight Domnique Crowder (12-0, 8 KOs) of Baltimore, Md.
  • Heavyweight Ricardo “Ric” Volcin (2-0, 2 KOs) originally from Miami, Fla. – an MPD Officer assigned to the Sixth District and former high school football star
  • Welterweight “Bazooka” Joe Veazey (6-0, 4 KOs) of Baltimore, Md.
  • Welterweight Crisanto “El Chingon” Lucio (5-0, 3 KOs) of San Antonio, Tex. 
  • Heavyweight Chris “The Machine” Arnold (4-1, 4 KOs) of Fredericksburg, Va.
  • Super Featherweight Donnell “Blood Stripe” Poe (1-0, 1 KO) of Washington, D.C. – a former Corporal in the US Marines 
  • Super Bantamweight Jay Stancil III (2-0, 1KO) of Clinton, Md.
