(October 7, 2023) – World Boxing Federation (WBF) All Africa Welterweight champion Wassim Chellan is ready to take his next step when he fights for the vacant WBF International title on October 13.
At Goodwood Correctional Centre in Cape Town, South Africa, the 7-0 (3) local favourite will face Malawian Denis Mwale, 9-5 (4), on a card staged by Jackie Brice Boxing Promotions.
Tipped to be a future star, Chellan last boxed in March when he captured the WBF All Africa title with a unanimous decision over the tough Lybon Ntshani.
In Mwale he will face another rugged foe, who brings an edge in experience and has proven himself a durable and game fighter in the past.
Mwale challenged for the WBF Intercontinental Lightweight title in 2021, losing by decision after a spirited effort against Ibrahim Class Mgender in Tanzania.
For Chellan it is a significant test at this stage of his career, and for Mwale it is a chance to get his career firmly back on track.
