Elina Tissen Regains WBF World Title In Final Fight

Germany´s Elina Tissen (37) won the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) world Featherweight title on Saturday, January 6, at the Stadthalle Muenster Hiltrup in Muenster, Germany.

Tissen stopped Kenyan veteran Jane Kavulani in round eight, and announced her retirement from the sport immediately after. Concluding a pro career which has spanned almost eighteen years.

“Elin The Machine” finishes with a fine 26-3 (7) record, while Kavulani is stopped for the first time and drops to 19-18-5 (7).

Tissen first became world champion in 2008 (GBU), and unified and defended various belts over the years.

In 2021 she won the WBF world title beating another Kenyan, Everline Odero, and made one successfully defense, against Eftychia Kathopouli, before losing the title to Enerolisa de Leon in November of 2022.

She had to wait over a year for a chance to regain her crown, but when it finally came she delivered and retires from the sport on top.
