Paris, France (October 22, 2023) – The International Boxing Association (IBA) is excited to announce the premiere of a short film telling the story of three-time World champion and Olympic silver medallist from France, Sofiane Oumiha.
The 28-year-old boxer competing in the 60kg weight category was born in Toulouse and has Moroccan decent. He recalls his childhood in one of the uneasy areas of the city, which was one the happiest moments in his life; it made him who is today. Oumiha explains how he made boxing a popular sport in France over the years, and what the IBA has done for that, as well as his attitude towards the position of boxing in the Los Angeles 2028 programme. His uncle and coach Mehdi Oumiha talks about his development from event to event.
In the 4-minute film, you will see the behind-the-scenes preparation of one of the most decorated boxers to the fight at the IBA Champions’ Night in Paris that took place on 18 October. Oumiha fought against Bulgarian prospect Radoslav Rosenov and won in six rounds by a unanimous decision.
‘This is a first film of its kind that IBA will produce to show case the very best IBA boxers across the globe, to show their determination and the role of the IBA in assisting with their growth and development. They are the heart of our organization, our heroes, and all what we do, we do for them. I am really happy to share with you this short story of the boxer whose results are truly incredible. IBA is where legends are born, IBA is where legends are made; Sofiane is clear example of this journey, he is a true ambassador of our sport,’ IBA Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts OBE commented.
The film is available on IBA YouTube channel.
