(January 20, 2022) – Undefeated World Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens World Middleweight Champion Ema Kozin is set for a massive unification show-down with American IBF, WBC and WBA counterpart Claressa Shields on February 5 at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales.
For Slovenian Kozin, 21-0-1 (11), this will unquestionably be her biggest fight to date, as two-time Olympic gold medalist Shields, 11-0 (2), is widely considered one of the best Pound-for-Pound boxers in female boxing, and has also unified world titles at Super Welterweight and Super Middleweight.
“The Princess”, still only 23 years old, is herself a multiple-weight world champion, as she also holds the WBF World Super Middleweight crown. The fight against Shields will be her fourth defense of Middleweight honors.
26-year-old “T-Rex” Shields, from Flint in Michigan, turned professional after winning her second Olympic gold at the 2016 games in Rio. She won her first pro world titles, the WBC and IBF Super Middleweight, already in her fourth outing, and has since boxed exclusively in world championship fights.
Kozin enters the fight as the underdog, but has every intention of shocking the world and replace the self-proclaimed “GWOAT” (Greatest Woman of all Time) in the Pound-for-Pound rankings.
Televised live in the United Kingdom by SKY Sports, and world-wide on various outlets, the Kozin vs. Shields world middleweight unification fight will be promoted by Benjamin Shalom´s Boxxer.
