Cristiano Ndombassy came out on top to win the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) International Super Welterweight title, when he collided with previously unbeaten Jamie Webb on Friday, March 12, at Polsmoor Prison in Cape Town, South Africa.
Both men were free to leave after the close bout, but the South Africa-based Angolan brought with him a split decision victory and the WBF belt.
Judges Clifford Mbelu and Simphiwe Gceba scored the fight 94-92 and 96-94 for Ndombassy, while judge Fred Van Der Ross saw it 97-93 for Webb.
A pro since 2013, “The Warrior of Faith” improved his record to 12-4 (9). Webb, who entered the paid ranks in 2018, drops to 6-1 (3) after what was his careers first championship fight.
The fight headlined a show promoted by Brice Boxing.
