Austria’s Stefan Nikolic is the new World Boxing Federation (WBF) Intercontinental Cruiserweight champion after winning the vacant title on Saturday, September 16.
At the Hotel InterContinental in Vienna, Nikolic defeated Swedish co-challenger Samo Jangirov by wide unanimous decision.
Judges Hilmi Bagci and Sven Graefe both scored the fight 99-91, while judge Rainer Schwarz had it a shut-out 100-90.
It was Nikolic second attempt to win the title, as he was upset by Colombian Julio Cesar Calimeno almost exactly a year ago at the same venue. This was his third straight victory since.
The new WBF champion improved his professional record to 9-1 (7). Jangirov, a former Swedish national champion, falls to 8-5-3 (1).
The fight headlined a card promoted by Daniel Nader´s Bounce Boxpromotion.
