DENVER (July 28, 2023) – Whilst Boxing fans around the world await with eagerness to watch the highly anticipated world championship contest between Errol Spence and Terence Crawford, enthusiasts won’t want to miss the supporting undercard matches. Promoters outdid themselves by putting together an outstanding supporting cast, that will prove to be a delightful appetizer to the main course.
Most boxing fans will not even tune in to the telecast until the main event is ready to begin, and rightfully so, undercards tend to be, let’s just say, uninteresting. Likewise, with live attendance, the seats don’t get filled until just prior to the main event. NOT the case with tomorrow’s event!
Just like a great comedian, a very good and entertaining comic will warm up the crowd with outstanding and funny jokes. You will not want to miss any of the three-undercard match-ups prior to Spence Vs Crawford.
The first contest will have Cuban Yoenis Tellez with only 5 professional bouts on his résumé facing Sergio Garcia from Spain with a professional record of 34-2. One has to think Tellez is crazy or confident in his abilities as a prize fighter, I believe it’s a combination of both. Tellez is so confident he’ll win this fight that he already has his next contest scheduled for August 26th. Garcia is no push-over by any means, he’s a young 30 years, has a tall 6-foot frame, and thirty-six fights of experience under his belt. Honestly, I personally want to watch and see if Tellez is what he thinks he is. If Tellez is a chip off the Cuban block of fighters, then I think, he’ll rise to the occasion.
The next contest pairs fan favorite Nonito Donaire against Mexico’s 27-year-old Alexandro Santiago with a ring record of 27-3-5. In his last 6 contests, Santiago has lost 1 contest by Majority Decision, coming at the handsS of Gary Russell. Donaire in his last 6 contests has lost twice, both to Naoya Inoue. Donaire wants to prove at the age of 40, he is still the great boxer he has always been. We want to see it!
The Co-Main event of the evening Mexican, Isaac Cruz intends to force any of the lightweight champions to a fight with a win over the 5’9”, undefeated Giovanni Cabrera (21-0-0). Cabrera in his own mind recognizes beating Cruz will put him in the mix for a world title contest.
Fight fans, tune in early, and give yourself space because from the onset you will be jumping out of your seat and throwing punches like nobody’s business.
Enjoy the fights, my friends…
